Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about ECSA registration, the application process, and how ERC can support your professional journey.

The Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) is the statutory body responsible for the regulation of the engineering profession in South Africa, established under the Engineering Profession Act (No. 46 of 2000). Registration with ECSA signifies that you have met the required standard of education, training, and competence to practise as an engineering professional. It enhances your credibility, opens doors to senior positions and project sign-off authority, and is a legal requirement for certain categories of engineering work in South Africa.
